
But this was something different.Īnd one of my patients said to me, “Dr. That’s called shift work sleep disorder and there’s some protocols to treat that. Breus I am not worried about my sleep I just sleep at the wrong time.” And I said, “what do you mean by that?” Usually people who tell me they sleep at the wrong time they’re either shift workers, or they’re in the military or fire department or police, something where their job requires them to work at night and they have to sleep during the day. So, I started to interview my patients even further.Īnd I said, “well, help me understand what’s going on.” And they said “Dr. I really help people break out of that insomnia mode and get into healthier sleep. These are the things I’ve used in my toolkit for 10-15 years. I started to notice that with some patients, my techniques weren’t working. But, probably within the last 2-3 years, I started working with patients. I was working with patients and I have been working with patients for a long time. I have a tendency to specialize in insomnia because of my background as a clinical psychologist. I take care of people’s sleep problems – apnea, narcolepsy, insomnia, all that kind of stuff.
